I know this is doable, but I'm not sure if it's practical. But I'll toss the idea out and see what you guys think.

Since the spam words database is used in general for everything, adding certain features to block certain things in specific areas becomes a bit difficult. For example, recently there's been a bunch of spammers who've used "[url=" or "http://" and then some funky URL as their username, and in a number of other fields when signing up. I *could* add "[url=*" in the spam words, but then that flags any new users who put a URL in their post.

So now my idea would be to have the spam words list maintained as a whole just the way it is, but then add exclusions for specific areas. Say for example you add the two examples listed above into the spam words database, but don't want them to apply to anything except the signup form, you just put a checkmark in the box next to that spam word that is for "posts" and "private messages" but leave the one for "signup form" unchecked. This way anytime someone signs up, if they hit that spam word, it flags the signup. But if they put that same word in a post or PM, it won't trigger the mod. Smile

It's an idea that, again, I'm not sure is practical, but a little healthy discussion on it can't hurt. Smile

allready, so that is not a problem, however I want to keep the ACP as "easy" as possible to handle, I'm not sure whether users will love 4 checkbuttons next to each word or 4 extra pages in the wordlis ..

Oh, I completely understand. That's why I said I wasn't sure if it was possible. To make it simpler I guess we could have a simple and advanced mode instead. For those who want to keep it as simple as possible, they'd get what's currently available. For those like me who want something that has more configurable options, then the advanced mode would be there.

It's up to you really on this in the end. I simply had an idea and thought I'd toss it out there. If it turns out to be too much, then no biggy. We can skip it if need be. Smile
