Allrighty here we go...

FieldFest function backported and released as standalone function!
http://www.creativepulses.nl/upload/phpbb/antispam/fieldfest_bp_0.0.1.zip

the FieldFest is the part were we let phpbb take full control over your register ( and/or posting ) fields !

the basics:

* Field names will be random renamed, example:
-- username will become: SxEblpavB or perhaps rrOpCrvKB

and/or

* Hidden fields will be added with... random names
a random number of fields will be hidden

How does it work?
Uppon registration the fields are generated by the antispam mod. They are random and unprecidatble in number/amount.

Any automated spam will use the known fields like username, email, cur_password, confirm_code, website etc...
With all ( or some) fields randomly renamed, the antispam mod will see that there was an attempt to automatically sign up.

it is a bit like:
http://www.phpbbantispam.com/viewtopic.php?t=38
yet... in this way the field name CANNOT be predicted because it changes every time !

When will this be implemented?
I dont' know, I know WHAT to do, and I got the most parts thought out..

Ramon, I installed the version with fieldfest this morning, and it appears that only the username field name value is changed to random characters?
Did I do something wrong?

ok, cool. So the only field at this point that is randomized is the username field, right?
For some reason, I was under the impression that all the fields, like email address, etc, would also be randomized.

Thanks for the confirmation. I guess I should have noticed that when I was installing it, eh? The only field changed is username. Smile

thats right... in a next release one or two other fields will be "scrambled" and some random hidden ones will be attached

and erm.. well during the tpl install you could notice only the username would be affected Wink

Feel free to test drive it at www.phpbbinstallers.net Wink
